People often ask
“So, you’re an artist. As in, you survive on the income of your art?”.
No would be the answer. As I rarely seem to make it to the studio these days and might do a ‘Cloud Commission’ piece once a month or something when there aren’t shows on, or walls doing. Most of my time is spent trying not to get a proper job, and finding some kind of joy in not making my own work, but meeting others’ briefs in the best way possible. This seems to be the case for most artists I meet who aren’t a household name.On allowing ego to be forgotten, you find you can engage with people and their ideas… look at their needs and select jobs on their potential… when you get it right, some real fun can be had. I refuse to do anything I wouldn’t admit to doing. Granted, there is alot that I wouldn’t post on here and tell people I’d done (and there is alot), but its important that times a-wastin’ and projects shouldn’t just be for paper alone.
The reason for all that hot air is basically to explain the flicks. These are a couple of projects from this month with my good pal Creative Ginger
First up, we have a ‘Dazzle Camouflage’ skate park. (CLICK FOR MORE FLICK). I’ll not reinvent the wheel by explaining it… for an decent explanation of Dazzle Camo, CLICK HERE
Also up there is the pencil wall I’m currently working on for a junior school in durham. This job is BIG… and its getting bigger by the day (AND they’re allowing me Cloud Commission time on their walls once I’ve finished this fence). This is a progress shot from the job… I thought I’d give yous a butchers
Take care kid x
